Managing water temperature is critical in performance driving, especially for turbocharged engines like the Civic Type R (FK8/FL5). The Spoon Sports Low Temp Thermostat is designed to optimize cooling efficiency during demanding conditions such as circuit driving and time attack runs.
By lowering the valve opening temperature to 68°C (compared to the OEM 78°C), this thermostat ensures that coolant begins circulating earlier, keeping engine temperatures within the optimal power range of 70–80°C. With a fully open temperature of 81°C, it helps maintain stable cooling and prevents the power loss associated with overheating.
